"LAIN" Challenge

Mom's the Word commented under my "Lie vs Lay" blog that no one says "lain". I'm afraid she may be correct. But that doesn't mean it's a good thing. So, here's my challenge. If you can use any of the terms "have lain", "has lain" or "had lain" correctly in a conversation and then quote that usage on my blog under "Lie vs Lay", I will give you a gold star.

Examples: The clothes have lain on the floor all day. OR The dead bird had lain on the porch for two weeks. OR The dog has lain down in the dirt.

Remember to use "lain" anywhere you would use "rested". There cannot be an object.

Just think! This may be a start of a grammar revolution across America. In future years we may hear little children saying,"The baby doll has lain on the bed," or "But, mommy, I have already lain in my little crib for a long time and taken my nap." Oh, yes, it could happen!!!

Such dreams are what built the foundation this county has lain on all these years. ?

I today told the dog that she had lain in the same spot for too long.
But it sounded very strange.
But if Julie gets a star, I want one...

I love that one of your labels is "revolution". You're a mess. I'm taking you up on that challenge.

Kay, I'm trying to get you a star, but I'm having a little trouble. It will be there soon. Good job!
